The University of Nairobi is pleased to announce the 3rd Nairobi Innovation Week will take place from Monday March 6, through March 10, 2017 from 8am to 5pm. This will be the 3rd edition of the Nairobi Innovation Week.

This year, the Nairobi Innovation Week thematic focus will be, "Innovating to solve pressing local and global challenges", which is further divided into the following sub-themes:-

  1. Agents of Change: Children, Adolescents and Young adults
  2. Tools to enable and facilitate Innovations
  3. The Startup Movement as an avenue to solving pressing local and global challenges
  4. Harnessing Maturing Digital Technologies (e.g Mobile financial services, cloud) for pressing challenges
  5. Exploiting Emerging Digital Technologies (e.g 3D, Wearables, sensors, drones, etc) for pressing challenges
  6. Developing 21st Century mindset (Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Design Thinking, Future of learning etc.)
  7. Government : Enabler and Adopter of Innovations.
  8. Innovations for Sustainable Development Goals at Sub National Level

The Objectives the Nairobi Innovation Week are to show case and recognize innovations by researchers, incubatees (University Innovation Hub and other Innovation Hubs), private companies and public agencies; to create a platform for presentation of academic papers, innovation illustrations and case studies focused on research and innovation and to champion policy discussions on innovation in Kenya.

The Nairobi Innovation Week is open to the public and attendees can expect to experience a wide variety of cutting edge innovation and technology that touch on Education, Research, entrepreneurship and Policies many more. There shall be 15 side events, exhibitions, startup pitches, music concerts and panel discussions. HON. ADAN MOHAMMED: Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Industry, Trade and Cooperatives.

HON. JOE MUCHERU: Cabinet Secretary for Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology.

WERNER SCHULTINK: UNICEF Kenya Country Office Representative.
