A day of reflection and Thanksgiving


The University of Nairobi fraternity held an Interfaith Prayer Day on Wednesday January 24 2018. This Day was set aside to reflect and giving thanks for the good things the Lord has bestowed on the University as an Institution.

Management, staff, students and friends of the University gathered at Taifa Hall united in prayer and thanksgiving. There were performances from various inter denominational student groups and the University of Choir. Special prayers were offered by representatives from diverse religious believes, like Christians (Catholics, Protestants and Seventh Day Adventists) Muslims and Hindus.

Rev. Hosea Mitei, the Protestant Chaplain, University of Nairobi preachings mainly focused on Thanksgiving. His sermon touched on the story of the biblical story of the 10 Lepers who were healed by Jesus, of the 10, only one came back to say thank you. Rev Hosea, encouraged everyone present to cultivate a culture of giving thanks when good things happen or prayers are answered.

The  Chancellor Dr. Rattansi also spoke during the service and lauded the University Community for setting aside a day for prayer and Reflection. The Vice Chancellor; Prof. Mbithi thanked everyone for participating in the service and more so thanked God for the many good accomplishments the University has achieved.

The Prayer Day was also conducted in the Kisumu and Mombasa Campus. This will be an annual event at the beginning of every year where the management, staff, students and key stakeholders will gather to pray together.
