The following information constitute of the admission critera and fees application to the various undergraduate programmes and diploma courses in the College of Education and External Studies.

Minimum Admission Requirements for degree programmes:

  1. KCSE (Mean C+) or equivalent; or
  2. KACE (2 principal passes), or equivalent; or Professional qualifications such as Dip. Education, Dip. Early Childhood, Teachers Certificate (SI) from recognized institutions or their equivalents; or
  3. A trained primary school teacher of PI grade and three years minimum teaching experience and minimum KSCE (Mean C)
  4. Other degrees from a recognized university.
  5. And any other relevant criteria listed in the General Admissions Criteria.B.Ed Science and B.Ed ICT should in addition to the Minimum admin. Criteria have C+ in at least 2 science subjectsDip. In ECE with P1 certificate should have attained a minimum of C- (Minus) or equivalent qualification at KCSE level

Minimum Admission Requirements for Dip. in Early Childhood Education

  1. A holder of KCSE with a minimum of grade C or its approved equivalent
  2. Kenya Certificate of Education with minimum of Division three
  3. A P1 teacher Certificate
  4. And any other relevant criteria listed in the General Admissions Criteria.

Minimum Admission Requirement

  1. P1 certificate with KCSE mean grade C (plain) or KCE/EACE Division III
  2. KCSE mean grade C+
  3. KACE/EAACE certificate with 2 principal passess
  4. Diploma/S1 certificate from an institution recognized by senate with KCSE mean grade C (plain) or KCE/EACE Division III
  5. A degree from a university recognized by senate
  6. And any other relevant criteria listed in the General Admissions Criteria.

NB. For B.Ed. (Science) candidates must have a C+ in at least two Science Subjects.

  • Mode of learning: Distance Learning

Diploma Programmes

Dip. in Business Management, Sales & Marketing, Public Relations & Human Resource Management

Minimum Requirements

  1. KCSE Mean grade C with C- in Mathematics or Commerce or Accounting or Economics and C- in English or Kiswahili.
  2. KCE division III with a pass in Mathematics or Commerce or Accounting or Economics and a pass in English or Kiswahili.
  3. KACE/EACE with one principal pass and subsidiary
  4. KCSE meangrade C- (minus) or KCE/EACE Division III with a professional certificate from a Recognized Institution
  5. University Degree in any field
  6. And any other relevant criteria listed in the General Admissions Criteria.
  • Mode of learning From 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on weekdays and from 8 am to 5 pm. on Saturdays

Diploma in Guidance & Counseling

Minimum Requirements

  1. KCSE Mean grade C with C- in English or Kiswahili.
  2. KCE/EACE division III with a pass in English or Kiswahili.
  3. KACE ‘A’ level with one principal pass
  4. Professional certificate from Recognized Institution
  5. University Degree in any field
  6. And any other relevant criteria listed in the General Admissions Criteria.
  • Mode of learning: Business and From 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm on weekdays and from 8 am to 5 pm. on Saturdays

Diploma in Adult Education and Community Development,Commonwealth Diploma Programme in Youth and Development Work

Minimum Requirements

  1. KCSE mean grade of C or KCE Div. III and above
  2. KCSE mean grade of C-(Minus) and a recognized certificate
  3. KCSE mean grade C plain or KCE/EACE Division III or P1 Certificate and approved equivalent qualifications recognised by senate
  4. Adult Education practitioners and Community workers with Div IV and certificate in Adult Education and Community Development or Open and Distance Learning from the University of Nairobi or equivalent qualifications from institutions recognized by Senate.
    Diplomas in Adult Education and Community Development and Commonwealth Diploma Programme in Youth and Development Work are for development workers working with the youth and communities as government employees, volunteers and community workers. They are highly recommended for all grassroot workers such as Adult literacy and Education Teachers, Church workers, NGOs Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and Chiefs
  5. And any other relevant criteria listed in the General Admissions Criteria.
  • Mode of learning: Distance LearningCertificate Programmes

Cert. in Guidance and Counseling, Public Relations & Supplies Management, Personnel Management
