The University of Nairobi has launched an Online Application Information System on 14th March 2016. This online system will provide a platform for self sponsored students to apply for any course offered by the University of Nairobi. The colorful event was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Peter M. F. Mbithi.
While addressing guests during the launch; the Vice Chancellor lauded the Teams from ICT Centre and KCB who worked tirelessly to roll out the system. The team from ICT centre developed the System and KCB will be implementing the payment gateway of the Online Application System. The VC also noted the many efforts the University is making towards incorporating technology and innovations in service delivery.
This automated system will greatly improve operations within the University and also make it easy for applicants to submit their applications electronically. The online system will also allow applicants to track their applications online from any corner of the country and indeed the world. The system has inbuilt payment options like cash, M-pesa and credit cards.
The ICT director, Mr. Ibrahim Otieno noted that applicants will now have the convenience of applying for courses from across the globe. In the past, applicants had to manually fill in application forms and send them to the University.
Dr. Sam Nyaoke, who represented KCB CEO, Mr. Joshua Oigara, noted that the system will help the University achieve its aspirations of being a world class university.
The launch was attended by among others; University of Nairobi Senate comprising of Deans , Directors and Heads of Departments from the various schools, Institutes, Faculties and Departments.
